Wednesday’s free-agent filings

Nine more players filed for free agency on Wednesday including Jason Giambi and Carl Pavano whose options were bought out by the Yankees and right-hander A.J. Burnett who opted out of his contract with the Blue Jays.

Look for Dodgers right-hander Brad Penny to join the list soon. The Dodgers plan to buy out his 2009 option as well.

* Provisional election pending resolution of option provision in player’s contract.
