Prospect update: Bonino, Weller shine

Some prospect notes to pass along on an off day for the Ducks… bonino 150x150 Prospect update: Bonino, Weller shine

It’s probably not news that Boston University (barely) beat the U.S. under-18 team in a preseason game, but it’s worth noting that Ducks prospect Nick Bonino (right) scored a goal in the 3-2 victory.

Bonino, a junior forward acquired in the San Jose trade for Travis Moen and Kent Huskins, was an NCAA Frozen Four All-Tournament selection for the national champion Terriers last season.

Also, in the East Coast Hockey League, Shawn Weller had a hat trick in his first game as a Bakersfield Condor on Saturday night.

Weller was acquired last month in a trade with Ottawa for right wing Jason Bailey.

Maxime Macenauer also scored while Justin Pogge and Jean-Philippe Levasseur split time in net in a 5-3 victory against Stockton.
