A local hockey note to pass along here that Matt Leitner of Los Alamitos was selected to the U.S. Junior Select team.
Leitner is one of 22 players that will compete for the U.S. in the World Junior A Challenge on Nov.1-8 in Summerside, Prince Edward Island.
Leitner, 18, is a forward for the Fargo Force of the United States Hockey League. Another Southern Californian, Beau Bennett of Gardena, was also named to the U.S. squad.
