Ducks center Ryan Getzlaf has been appointed to a search committee to find an executive director for the NHL Players Association.
The NHLPA tapped Getzlaf, Mathieu Schneider of Vancouver, Brian Rafalski of Detroit and Brian Rolston and Jamie Langenbrunner and of New Jersey to find a replacement for Paul Kelly, who was removed in August.
Presumably one of the key issues in regards to finding a new director will be that person’s negotiations of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, which expires after the 2010-11 season, althought the NHLPA has the option of extending it for an additional year at the end of the term.
Getzlaf, 24, is the youngest member of the committee.
