The Florida Panthers say Tomas Vokoun is “fine” after being pole-axed by the stick of teammate Keith Ballard.
Ballard was frustrated after the Atlanta Thrashers scored a goal on the Panthers Monday.
Imagine how Vokoun felt. And even though Ballard is contrite, I agree with ESPN’s Barry Melrose, who called it “the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen in hockey” and wondered what the suspension would have been if Ballard had done that to an opponent.
Hockey players can’t lose their composure. When they do, and when someone gets hurt, they should be disciplined. That’s just simple professionalism.
