Surfline.com forecaster Kevin Wallis gives us a look at how the surf will be this week:
High pressure will settle back over Southern California for the middle to second half of the week, bringing clear skies and a warming trend. While Wednesday will remain on the cool side, skies will be clear; Thursday and Friday will see clear skies and warmer weather with beach temps in the mid to upper 60s. Offshore flow out of a northeast direction will prevail in the mornings Wednesday through Friday, with a light sea breeze from the westerly direction developing in the afternoons.
Our surf on Wednesday will be a combo of fading west-northwest swells and will be strongest in the morning with 2-4’ surf (waist-chest high) at many breaks, while the best spots are a slightly larger. Smaller surf takes over on Thursday, with average breaks in the 1-2 occasional 3’ range. A new west-northwest swell will be building on Friday and into Saturday, with a small south swell also mixing in. Look for a pick up in surf back to the 2-3 occasional 4’ range at many breaks during that time, with some larger waves up to 5’ on the face at top breaks for Saturday.
Going into the longer range, a potentially larger northwest swell could move into Southern California and select Orange County beaches late in the upcoming weekend. Keep an eye on Surfline.com for all the latest details on that potential swell. Have fun, be safe and we’ll see you out in the water!
