The West Coast’s best 18 and under amateur surfers will be taking over a popular surf spot in Northern California next weekend.
The third stop of the Surfing America Prime Surf Series is happening at Steamer Lane in Santa Cruz.
The invite-only competition has a lot of talent coming out of Orange County. Some of the notable names in the boys divisions includes: San Clemente’s Kolohe Andino, Newport Beach’s Bobby Okvist, Costa Mesa’s Colin Moran and Huntington Beach’s Kanoa Igarashi.
Some of the standouts representing the girls include: Santa Ana’s Courtney Conlogue and Newport Beach’s Kaleigh Gilchrist.
The Surfing America Prime Surf Series has a total of six events on the West Coast. Those surfers with the highest ratings from the Prime Series, NSSA and WSA will be invited to compete in the Surfing America USA Championships at Lower Trestles in June. For more info. check out surfingamerica.org.
