One of the biggest surf shops in San Diego is launching a new surf contest series in 2010. Later this month Surf Ride is kicking off its $100,000 Freedom Pro-Am Surf Series presented by Vans.
If you’re a pro surfer in the Southern California area, this 5 stop surf series will be a good way to possibly make a pretty good chunk of cash without having to travel very far. Most of the events will take in San Diego County with one of the events happening in San Clemente.
The Pro/Am division winner at each event will walk away with $5,000 with the chance to win $20,000 at the season championships in May. Meanwhile, the Dakine family divisions winners and finalists will win thousands of dollars in gear from the Surf Ride shops.
Every competitor will also receive a free backpack stuffed with more than $150 worth of product from all the sponsors of the Surf Ride Freedom Surf Series. Entry fees are $135.00 for the pro/am division and $59 for all amateur divisions. For more info. or online entries, go to freedom.surfride.com.
