It was the first weekend of Disneyland’s annual Halloween Time, which lasts Sept. 25-Nov. 1. This trip report takes a look at the new Halloween additions to the Disneyland Resort. Check later in the week for a trip report on construction updates. Click on the photos for larger images.
Welcoming guests to Disneyland, the flower Mickey in front of the Main Street Train Station is decked out in Halloween colors.
Main Street U.S.A. has been turned into a pumpkin festival, where more than 300 unique pumpkins are on display.
The focal point of Main Street, U.S.A. is this 16-foot-tall Mickey Mouse jack-o’-lantern. It stands in the center of Main Street across from the flag pole. On one side of the pumpkin, Mickey is smiling, while the other side features Mickey winking.
Frontierland has dedicated a tree to the season, dubbed the Halloween tree. Also in Frontierland, visit Big Thunder Ranch for more Halloween festivities.
Disney is also celebrating the traditional Mexican holiday, Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead. Located across from the Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante in Disneyland’s Frontierland, this festive exhibit honors those who have passed away and celebrates the continuation of life.
Heading down to New Orleans Square, The Haunted Mansion has been given its annual Haunted Mansion Holiday makeover, based on Tim Burton’s “Nightmare Before Christmas.” The ride combines Halloween and Christmas and features the movie’s major characters, including Jack, Sally, Zero and the Oogie Boogie Man.
Across the way at Disney’s California Adventure, the main entrance plaza has been transformed into Candy Corn Acres.
Here, candy corn comes in all shapes and sizes, and makes for a nifty photo op.
