This week’s trip report takes a look at Tom Sawyer’s Island, the Disneyland magic shop and Paradise Bay in Disney’s California Adventure. Click on the photos for larger images.
After sitting behind construction walls for the past few years, a portion of the fort on Tom Sawyer’s Island is now open again. Guests can now explore the pathways outside the fort, as well as the adjacent graveyard.
Although the graveyard portion is open, Fort Wilderness is still closed.
The Main Street Magic Shop is set to open next month. Houdini’s Magic Shop will take over as a private operator of the Disney shop, above.
Signs of the new shop are already appearing; the numerous nostalgic pieces in the windows indicate that Houdini’s arrival is imminent.
Disney’s Halloween Time is still running strong, but that doesn’t mean it’s too early for Christmas. Holiday-themed merchandise is already trickling into shops – the World of Disney has a whole wing dedicated to ornaments, candy canes and many more Christmas goodies.
Disney began the process of refilling Paradise Bay last week after it had been drained for about a year to allow for the construction of the upcoming World of Color show. Water is flowing into the 16-million-gallon lagoon at 2,800 gallons per minute. The water was recycled by Disney through the Orange County Water District using its Groundwater Replenishment System. Below, we have more photos of the lagoon’s progress. Click on the photos for a larger image.
