Tips: How to beat the heat at Disney parks

buttonyoutips Tips: How to beat the heat at Disney parksOrange County temperatures could hit each record highs today, with Anaheim expected to reach 99 degrees.

After a few hours wandering the park, Disney guests are likely to need some relief. We asked our Twitter friends for tips for staying cool at the park. Read their edited ideas below. These tips are unverified with Disney officials, so take them as they are. If they don’t work, please let us know.

From Twitter user Robby Delosier of Long Beach, who goes by @rocketrobby:

  • If you ask for ice, cast members will give it to you for free.
  • First aid offers complimentary sunscreen.

From Twitter user Diana Anderson, who goes by @gypcsol:

  • Disney’s California Adventure is cooler and breezier than Disneyland. Stay at California Adventure until sunset and then go to Disneyland. Parents can sit while kids play at the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail at California Adventure.

From Sergio Lopez of Modesto, who goes by @theserge. He sent his tips via e-mail:

  • Grab Fastpasses for attractions like Splash Mountain at Disneylandand Grizzly River Run at Disney’s California Adventure. Grizzly has lockers at the attraction exit that are free for one hour while you ride so your belongings don’t get wet. Just bring a Ziploc baggy for the receipt you’ll need to get your stuff out. Grizzly’s Fastpass is also disconnected from the network, which means you can have a Fastpass for that attraction and one for any other attraction in either park.
  • Head to “Muppet*Vision 3D,” “It’s Tough to be a Bug!” or “Honey, I Shrunk the Audience” movies for indoor queues and air-conditioned theaters.
  • Watch the Pixar Play Parade at Disney’s California Adventure and get squirted by the floats and performers.
  • Enjoy a Dole Whip in the queue for the Enchanted Tiki Room at Disneyland or take it inside for the show.

Here are a few tips from Around Disney bloggers:

  • Grab a drink at the Hungry Bear Restaurant at Disneyland. There’s a shaded patio with a view of Rivers of America for relaxation.
  • The line for the Pirates of the Caribbean is cool and you can get splashed on the big dip on the ride.
  • Frozen lemonade is a refreshing treat.
