No. 4 Disney story: Free-on-your-birthday promotion
Millions of people signed up this year for a unique promotion — get in to a Disney theme park free on your birthday.
Annual passholders were treated to alternative birthday presents, such as gift cards.
The free deal was part of a bigger themed promotion, called Celebrate!, which encourages visitors to mark their milestones at the parks. A parade was designed around that theme.
As of September, about 3 million people had signed up for the birthday promotion with about one-third of them taking advantage of the free tickets in U.S. Disney parks. Updated numbers were unavailable. Read more about the promotion HERE.
The last day to get in free on your birthday is Thursday.
What’s next: In 2010, Disney is nixing the free-on-your-birthday deal. Instead, theme parks are giving free tickets to people who do volunteer work for a day or a shift — a promotion called “Give A Day. Get a Disney Day.”
