No. 10 Disney news story of 2009

Over the next two weeks, we’re counting down the top Disney news stories of 2009. We’re focusing on stories affecting Anaheim’s Disneyland Resort area. The results are based on a reader poll with 100 responses.

George Kalogridis, who previously led Disneyland Paris, took over in October of the Disneyland Resort — Orange County’s largest private employer with about 20,000 workers.

Kalogridis began his job just one week after previous Disneyland Resort President Ed Grier announced that he was retiring from the company. Grier held the job for about three years. Read about Grier’s retirement HERE.

A 38-year veteran of the Walt Disney Co., Kalogridis served as vice president of operations of the Disneyland Resort from 2000 to 2002 when Disney’s California Adventure opened.

What’s next: Kalogridis will lead the resort through the $1.2 billion Disney’s California Adventure expansion. The next big addition is the World of Color show, which is set to debut this spring.
