Photos are pouring in from near and far for our online photo contest challenging readers to submit the best shots they’ve taken at Disneyland or Disney’s California Adventure over the years.
As of late Wednesday morning, readers had submitted more than 350 photos in The Register’s AroundDisney.com photo contest.
Many submissions have come from Orange County, but others have come from as far as Oregon and Arizona.
Entries focus on Disney landmark’s such as the Monorail and the Matterhorn, on Mickey and Goofy. And many are adorable shots of children in Mouse Ears.
The four winners chosen will get a pair of tickets to a private Disney party next week sponsored by the official Disney fan club, D23.
Register journalists will pick two winners, and you the readers will select the other two.
In the public voting, a photo of a stuffed Stitch, apparently on the ground, led with 22,577 votes as of about 12:30 p.m. Second place was girl at a fancy fountain with 14,056.
Mark Quigley, 38, an airline customer agent from Mesa, AZ, found out about the contest while reading MiceChat.com and entered three photos taken during the last three years. Most of his photos include park icons such as the Castle during the fireworks show and Big Mountain Thunder Railroad.
“Working for an airline, I’m able to come out there on long weekends,” he said. “And this party falls in the middle of one of those long weekends, so I thought I’d give it a shot.”
The March 10 party is only open to D23 members – and winners of our contest (thanks to D23, which is providing the eight tickets for the contest.)
The party will take place in Fantasyland, where up to 1,500 people can ride attractions, get free drinks and desserts and meet with Disney celebrities from 9 p.m. to midnight. “Captain EO” also will be open in Tomorrowland. (To read more about the party, click here.)
