ASK US: What’s up at the Boogie property?

Question:I was at Del Taco today and fences are going up and lanes are being marked in the parking lot.  One of the men said it’s suppose to be parking for Disneyland.  Anyone heard anything about this?  Just wondering, as it’s my favorite spot to go for lunch, because there’s lot of space to park and eat and relax (with a few bums hanging out at Flakey Jakes – but I keep my distance).  Thanks.

Answer:Actually, Disney spokeswoman Suzi Brown said Disney has just signed a lease with the owner of the Cowboy Boogie property off of Katella Avenue and the I-5 freeway to use the space as a staging area for continued construction of the $1 billion California Adventure expansion.

Workers are preparing the lot to be a security checkpoint for all of the trucks hauling in I-beams, rebar, wood and concrete to move the massive development forward.

The Cowboy Boogie bar itself closed in 2007 after a series of legal problems and the loss of its liquor license. The clientele was also notably rough, and violence often broke out there leading to the bar’s closure.
